Course Description
This course is designed for rurally-located queer and gender-diverse youth and survivors who want to better understand gender-based violence, available support options, and the factors that can shape access to care. Learners will explore how GBV can take many forms, how gender and sexuality can intersect with experiences of violence, and why rurality can affect privacy, transportation, service choice, and trust.
The course also examines disclosure, confidentiality, reporting, gender-affirming care, community support, and personal agency. Through practical examples, reflection activities, and knowledge checks, learners will build tools for evaluating services, asking informed questions, and identifying the kinds of support that may feel right for them.
