Important: Cyber Security Attack and Recovery Plan

Dear Community,

We regret to inform you that TransCare+ has recently been the target of a significant fraud and cyber attack, severely affecting our operations and funding. Our Board of Directors and Executive Director, Jacob, are working diligently to assess the full extent of the situation, and we want to share what we know at this time.

Our internal systems, including Google Workspace, Canva, Monday, Slack, and our banking services, have been compromised. Fortunately, we do not believe that our domain, website, HRIS, or social media accounts have been affected. However, the impact on our operations and funding is substantial.

Currently, our bank accounts have been flagged as “breached” and have been frozen by our bank’s Security and Risk Team. We will not be able to access these accounts until the security review is complete, which is estimated to take about two weeks, though this timeline may vary depending on the situation. We are working closely with our bank and their security team to recover what we can.

So, what does this mean? It means that all emails sent before July 24th, and those sent between July 24th and August 7th, are currently inaccessible. We have engaged a cybersecurity firm to recover as much as possible, but if you emailed us during these periods, please forward your message to hello@transcareplus.org so we can address it. We have switched email providers and successfully restored our communications. At this time, the only active email addresses are hello@transcareplus.org, chair@transcareplus.org, and executive@transcareplus.org.

If you received an email from a TransCare+ email between July 24th and August 7th, please let us know. This may assist us with our ongoing cyber security evaluation and recovery.

Regarding our banking situation, we are unable to access our funds, which has affected our ability to issue honorariums and payments. We deeply apologize for this inconvenience and sincerely thank you for your patience. This situation has impacted every aspect of our organization, including our staff and contractors.

In the meantime, we are setting up a new bank account to resume the organization’s operations. We hope to have this operational within the next week, allowing us to start processing all outstanding payments.

As we work to recover from this attack, we ask for the continued support of our community. This was a vicious act that has significantly affected our organization, staff, and community. Together we are stronger.

We appreciate your ongoing support and understanding as we navigate this challenging situation.

With love and solidarity,

TransCare+ Board of Directors and Executive
