WAGE Funding Announcement

An Innovative Approach to Health, Wellbeing, and Resource Accessibility

This 14-month WAGE-funded ($388,887) project will develop community-led initiatives to equip rurally-located queer and gender diverse (RLQGD) people with knowledge, tools, and supports that seek to advance their health, wellbeing, and care. The project will create community-informed and accessible knowledge enhancement opportunities by delivering care navigation workshops, visual resource tools, and printed education booklets to rurally-located service providers to distribute. By the project’s conclusion, TransCare+ aims to establish a centralized and publicly accessible resource directory and educational platform to support RLQGD individuals increased and sustained access to knowledge enhancement, care, and community.

Key Objectives:

  1. Map the existing health and wellness services, gaps, and barriers experienced by RLQGD individuals through a community needs assessment and environmental scan.
  2. Develop and implement multi-medium educational tools that are accessible and can be used by RLQGD individuals and communities to help navigate health, wellbeing, and care systems.
  3. Develop and implement community-based tools that will equip RLQGD individuals and communities with resources and knowledge that addresses barriers to advancing their health, wellbeing, and care.
  4. Collaborate with Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ communities to develop culturally focused and affirming educational materials and resources.
  5. Create and host a virtual knowledge-sharing summit to equip RLQGD people with knowledge, tools, and support as it pertains to their health, wellbeing, and care.
